In 2006, Anthony Knolles was in command of the forces searching for Nigel Loring following Loring's escape from prison in England. Loring and Knolles agreed to settle their dispute with single combat. Loring won and was allowed to proceed with his escape from England.

In 2020, Knolles arrived at Sutterdown in his role as an ambassador of the British Crown. He presented his credentials to Juniper Mackenzie. After explaining to Loring the changes that had occurred in England since Loring left, he offered Loring, on behalf of King William V, the title of the Earl of Bristol if Loring would return to England; Loring declined.

He gave Nigel and Juniper a living passenger pigeon from Nantucket Island.
