Background[]
Astrid Larsson was the third child of Ken Larsson and Mary Larsson. Astrid was an archery enthusiast before the Change, which went hand-in-hand with her other passion: fantasy fiction, specifically Tolkien. She was with her family as they flew in a private plane piloted by Mike Havel to the Larsson vacation home in Montana when the Change happened.
Key Events[]
Dies the Fire[]
After the Change, when the Larssons were imprisoned by the white supremacists, she used her bow to kill one of the supremacists after nearly being raped herself and watching her mother being raped and murdered. The psychological shock of killing and watching her mother being murdered, drove her further into Tolkien's fantasy world; it was a functional insanity.
As the still-unnamed Bearkillers were working their way west, Astrid antagonized the bear that Mike Havel killed; the group later declared Mike to be Lord Bear and adopted their name. She and Eilir Mackenzie became anamchara -- a Gaelic word meaning "Soul-Friends."
The Protector's War[]
Leading a group of Dúnedain Rangers, Astrid helps prevent a group of refugees from being captured by Baron Eddie Liu.
A Meeting at Corvallis[]
A group of Dúnedain Rangers trap a party of bandits with the aid of a party from Mount Angel Abbey. The kill all the bandits except for their leader, Sir Jason Mortimer who is the brother of the dowager Baron Gervais, Mary Liu. They take him to Corvallis.
