Background Edit

Epona was a horse, but was something more. She stood seventeen hands and weighed 1200 pounds

Key Events Edit

The Protector's War Edit

Rudi Mackenzie, as a child, approached Epona—calling himself Artos—and reminded her that they knew each other from their past lives.

Their meeting has strong echoes of Alexander the Great's meeting with his famous horse Oxhead (Bucephalus or Boukephalos). Both horses fulfill Xenophon's recommendations of what to look for in a prospective war horse. Both horses had been abused by their previous owners; in both cases a huge sum is promised if the horse can be tamed. Both Rudi/Artos and Alexander "tame" the horse through understanding and love. After the taming, Alexander's father, King Philip II of Macedon, embraces his son, just as Mike Havel embraces Rudi.
