The United States of Boise (USB) was a post-Change nation with its capitol in Boise, Idaho. President Lawrence Thurston referred to the country as the "United States of America" and to Boise as the provisional capital, but his claim was far from recognized. None of the governments of areas adjacent to the USB were willing to acknowledge his superiority. Thurston had an opportunity to ally his state with the Republic of New Deseret but refused because he was standing on the provisions of the United States Constitution and New Deseret had adopted Mormonism as its state religion. When Thurston finally belatedly recognized the threat from the Church Universal and Triumphant, it was late in the war. The president's elder son conspired with CUT agents in the assassination of his father. Afterward, Boise became a client state of the CUT.
