Background
William was the elder son of (then) Charles, Prince of Wales and Princess Diana.

Prince (at the time) William was on a vessel that was attacked. Nigel Loring assisted in a counterattack that turned the tide. William asked Nigel to return to England, but Nigel declined, citing the likelihood of civil war between William and his father, King Charles III, resulting.
The Sunrise Lands
Anthony Knolles told Nigel Loring that King William had led a coalition that defeated the Moors, had been anointed as Emperor of the West by the Pope and had tendered an offer to Nigel become the Earl of Bristol if Nigel would return to England Nigel declined the offer.
